Thomas R. Jones, MD, Ph.D., FAAOS
Specialties
Back, Neck & Spine, Orthopaedic Trauma, Pediatric Orthopaedics
Fellowship-trained orthopaedic spine surgeon Dr. Thomas Jones specializes in the surgical and nonsurgical treatment of back, neck, and spine disorders, from spinal fractures and arthritis to disc disease and scoliosis. Board-certified in orthopaedic surgery and extensively trained in the latest, proven spine treatment techniques, Dr. Jones provides high-quality, personalized care to help alleviate pain and restore function. He has served patients in Mankato, Minnesota, and the surrounding areas since 2011.
After completing advanced training in spine surgery through an exclusive fellowship at Harvard Medical School in Boston, Dr. Jones joined The Orthopaedic & Fracture Clinic. Previously, he graduated from Duke University in Durham, North Carolina, with his Bachelor of Science degree in engineering and biomedical engineering. He also earned his medical degree and doctorate in immunology in Atlanta at Emory University School of Medicine, where he graduated cum laude. Dr. Jones completed his internship in general surgery and his orthopaedic surgery residency at Medical College of Wisconsin Affiliated Hospital in Milwaukee.
Dr. Jones uses his years of experience and specialized training to offer area residents comprehensive spine care. In his treatment approach, his first step is finding the primary source of pain or disability. Then he works with his patients to use conservative measures to treat their issues before moving on to other treatment options. In the event that surgery is required to relieve pain and help his patient resume an active lifestyle, Dr. Jones always uses the least invasive surgical solution available to help ensure the best result.
