The Orthopaedic & Fracture Clinic is continuing its growth with the groundbreaking Tuesday of an addition at its location on the Wickersham campus in Mankato.
“The expansion will allow us to further enhance our patient care and continue to bring cutting-edge services to the region,” said Dr. Jesse Botker, orthopedic surgeon at OFC.
Botker and Dr. Scott Stevens, said OFC has been operating at full capacity for some time.
The nearly 5,000-square-foot space will add 15% to its current footprint.
OFC CEO Suzanne Willaert said that after the addition is finished next summer work will begin on remodeling some of their existing space to provide more exam rooms and other spaces.
Stevens recounted how OFC was founded in 1957 by Drs. Paul Gislason and Donald Meredith and moved to different locations as it grew. OFC now has several offices and partnerships in south-central and southwestern Minnesota.
They have a presence in 10 communities and provide nonsurgical treatments, orthopaedic surgery, and rehabilitation programs.
They have orthopaedic surgeons in the subspecialties of total joint replacement and revision, spine surgery, sports medicine as well as hand, wrist, elbow and shoulder surgery.
They also serve as sports medicine providers for several area high schools and other sports programs.
Botker said the goal of the increased footprint is to expand the clinic and physical therapy wings.
“Our mission has always been to provide excellence in care and this (addition) will help us continue that.”
ISG designed the addition. RW Carlstrom will do the construction.
The construction, on the north side of the existing building, will begin soon.
OFC is a privately owned group operated by nine surgeons.
They also employ an additional 113 support staff that includes nine advanced practice providers and eight physical and occupational therapists.
OFC also has outreach partnerships in Windom, Redwood Falls, Blue Earth and Fairmont as well as a physician seeing patients in Hutchinson.
