Dr. Andrew McNamara completes 100th shoulder replacement using computer navigation technology at River’s Edge Hospital

August 26 – St. Peter, MN – Dr. Andrew McNamara, orthopedic surgeon at the Orthopaedic & Fracture Clinic in Mankato, marked a milestone in total shoulder replacement Monday, completing his 100th total shoulder replacement at River’s Edge Hospital in St. Peter, using computer navigated technology.

Dr. Andrew McNamara, hand, wrist, elbow and shoulder specialist at the Orthopaedic & Fracture Clinic in Mankato, celebrates 100 successful total shoulder replacements using computer navigation technology.

The Exactech Equinoxe® Planning App and GPS® Shoulder program is a shoulder navigation technology that connects a patient’s preoperative plan with real-time intraoperative instrument guidance and verifies the implant placement.

Using GPS®, or guided personalized surgery, the shoulder replacement is planned using the patient’s specific anatomy.  Dr. McNamara explained the technology allows for more precise shoulder surgery and has better patient outcomes because of the improved accuracy of implant placement.
